What is IOI D168?

IOI (D168) is a Johor heritage variety from Muar, registered with the Department of Agriculture on 24 May 1989. It is also known as Mas Muar ("Gold of Muar").

The name "IOI" is often confused with "D101" because the letters and numbers look visually similar — but they are entirely different varieties. D168 was registered in 1989 in Muar; D101 is a separate, earlier registration.

Flavour Profile

IOI offers mild, clean, honest eating. The silky golden flesh has a gentle creamy sweetness with no lingering bitterness — straightforward and approachable. Brix reference 35–38%.

Its standout trait is yield: a single fruit can hold 6–7 pods, far above the usual 4–5 of other varieties. That makes it one of the best value durians per ringgit.

Why People Choose It

IOI is the practical choice when feeding a crowd or buying for cooking — desserts, pastries, sticky rice — where intense bitterness would be unwanted anyway. The clean sweetness holds up well in preparations.

For buyers who want more fruit for less without compromising on quality, IOI delivers honest value. It also has one of the broadest seasonal windows — when other varieties run out, IOI usually hasn’t.

At the Stall

We sell IOI by whole fruit weight, opened in front of you. Naturally dropped from our own trees in Bukit Serampang, Tangkak — same-day harvest, no cold storage.

Honest note: Don’t confuse IOI (D168) with D101 — the names look alike but they are different registered varieties. Ask the seller for the exact DOA code if in doubt.
